Motorcycle travel is the most expensive way of being homeless.
unknown
One of my goals with the first road trip was to see if it is doable on a budget 💸 without too many sacrifices.
Long story short: it absolutely is!
Over the 10 months on the road my average monthly expenses totalled:
💰1.568€
These were almost equally split between:
🏨 Accomodation
Keeping the price around 20€ per night when staying in hotels and finding better deals on AirBnB for longer stays.
🍽️ Food
Restaurants or supermarkets depending on the country: in Bosnia or Turkey you can enjoy a delicious meal for under 10E, while in France it would be the minimum to spend when shopping for food in a supermarket.
🏍️ Fuel and maintenance
Gasoline prices vary tremendously from one country to another (which can be pretty painful). At least Bee turned out to be a top reliable motorbike and didn’t require any major maintenance. And the total amount I spent on toll roads and fines was below 100E. Well done!
❓Do you think 1.5k€ per month is too much or too little to spend on a road trip?
