As the heavy rain “forced me” to spend one more night in Montenegro, I headed over the border in the morning, having the entire day to cross the country. Yes, that’s right Kosovo is such a small country that you can easily cross it in one day, in just about 5 hours.

The weather was looking good, and I couldn’t help but do a bit of exploration. I just couldn’t miss riding up the Rugovë Canyon (simply because I love canyon roads!). And it was totally worth a little deviation – soooo beautiful! And the roads are surprisingly not nearly as bad as I expected, they are actually pretty good!

And then I ended up having lunch with the owner of the guesthouse where I was supposed to stay last night (but cancelled because of the rain). He told me many stories about Kosovo and gave me some cherry from his garden – so cute 🙂

And then I headed towards Prizren but was caught halfway by the rain. I pulled over to find shelter at a gas station, and so did a Greek couple a couple of minutes later. They were also heading towards Skopje. The guys at the gas station didn’t mind us staying there, they were very welcoming and brought us chairs and coffee to make us feel comfy. So we sat down, and sipping on the coffee and exchanging travel stories, we waited a good couple of hours for the rain to stop. When the sky started to clear up we said goodbye to the guys, thanked them for the hospitality and hurried up to hit the road. It was too late to ride all the way to Skopje, so we chose to stay at Prizren for the night.

Prizren turned out to be a really interesting town, definitely worth a visit, and I ended up staying for two nights! And as an unexpected bonus, I got to watch an epic thunderstorm show right from the top of the Prizren fortress!

And when I thought that there was nothing left to impress me with, and headed towards Macedonia, I took the road throught Sharr National Park with its snow topped mountains, and oh my god it was a wonderful ride!

Kosovo definitely exceeded my expectations: spectacular views, beautiful architecture (talking about the downtown of Prizren), and very kind people 🥰

PS: The prices are lovely, too!
