You are currently viewing ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น When in Italy: pizza, canals, and mountains!

My plan for Italy was very different but the weather doesnโ€™t always play according to my rules, and then I adjust ๐Ÿ˜…

I had about 72 hours to sprint across Italy and get to Slovenia before a lot of very rainy days were about to begin.

So I skipped the cool Alpine passes and the coastline, too.

But I did manage to squeeze in the three things that I was really craving:

1. ๐ŸŒ…๐Ÿ• Garda lake and sunset pizza.

Half margarita / half marinara as I couldnโ€™t decide which one I wanted more.

Lago di Garda

2. ๐Ÿ›ถ Venice. The most romantic city ever.

Iโ€™ve been to Italy so many times but never in Venice. Probably because I was afraid to break the illusion, the pretty picture of the canals I had created in my imagination.

But the time has come to see it already. No expectations. Just go and see with my own eyes. Itโ€™s probably just a couple of canals, a few boats, one billion tourists – five photos and Iโ€™m done.

And then I saw this! Saw and fell in love! I was wandering around and getting lost, finding more and more adorable corners, streets, boats, and of course canals.

Clothes hanging on a drying line across the water.

People enjoying an Aperol Spritz along the boardwalk.

Somebody is eating a pizza at the bridge stairs.

Pink streetlights.

About 400 bridges, all so different but equally cute!

The sun, the clouds, the sunset, the lights after darkโ€ฆ

This is love ๐Ÿ’›

Venice

3. ๐Ÿž Fusine lakes

I was pushing my limits with the weather, and I can confess that it was very cold and I had to use all the layers I could. But it went fine and was totally worth a little bit of suffering!

It was three intense days but ๐Ÿ and I made it to our new home in Slovenia and just about half an hour later the rain started.
