Dear weather! Thank you for a couple of mostly sunny and fairly warm days I got to enjoy Latvia! If it wasnโ€™t for the upcoming rain and cold I wouldโ€™ve loved to spend more time here!

Walking around the colorful old town of Riga, dipping my toes into the Baltic Sea at the beach of Jurmala, getting lost in the trails of the national parks, and gazing at the majestic Gauja river ๐Ÿ˜ while snacking on ลกproty with grenki ๐Ÿฅฐ

And I can only imagine how many more places there are to explore…

Just please please please fix those roads!

The GoPro footage:

10. Tartu ๐Ÿ Riga (arriving to Latvia)

My original plan was to drive from Tartu to Pรคrnu, a city right on the east coast or Estonia and then continue next to the sea all the way down to Riga.

But as I got to Viljandi, I decided to head south as it was too windy and very unpleasant to ride through open spaces.

The route took me to some amazing curvy roads well sheltered from the wind. It was such a fun ride!

Except for maybe a little episode with a little bambi suddenly jumping on the road in front of me. Luckily my reaction was on point and I managed to slow down in time for it to safely cross the road.

The border from Estonia to Latvia couldโ€™ve stayed unnoticed if not for the little blue sign saying โ€œLatviaโ€. And yeah, the asphalt got worse after that.

11. Riga ๐Ÿ Vilnius (leaving Latvia)

Spent the last day in Latvia exploring the national parks and squeezed in some of the footage from the roads around Sigulda and Ligatne, just because the scenery there is amazing!

After the hiking and riding around Latvia, I was too tired to ride further but I didnโ€™t have much choice, the weather was about to get much worse and I decided to head south ASAP.

The morning was very cold and Iโ€™ve been told roads could still be icy after the night. So I started off slowly and carefully and had to stop a couple of times to get coffee and solyanka (a delicious soup) and pull myself together to continue.

As I crossed the Lithuanian border I stopped at the hill of crosses, a very curious and slightly creepy pilgrimage sight.

Then drove by a little village with a beautiful church and had to try the delicious local cepelinai (potato & meat dumplings).

And then as I was nearing my final destination, just about the last 20km, I ran out of gasoline ๐Ÿ˜… luckily I was only 1km away from the gas station, I started by dragging the bike along but gave up and just walked over to the station, they let me borrow a bottle to fill up so I could get my bike over for refuel ๐Ÿ˜

As I arrived to Vilnius, it started to rain and my plan of exploring the city had to be postponed. Honestly I was glad to get an excuse to go to bed early, rest and recharge for the next day!
