And a stupid <strong><em>speeding<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>fine<\/em><\/strong> at the very end of the highway almost spoilt my whole impression of the otherwise super awesome ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wasn\u2019t about the fine itself, but about how ridiculous the Turkish law is to set the motorcycle speed limits 20km\/h less than for cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Me to policeman: Do you think it will be safe if I ride 90km\/h, while the cars drive 110km\/h and have to overtake me all the time?<br>Policeman: No, it will be more dangerous, but it\u2019s the law. Here\u2019s your fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe I should just switch to riding gravel from now on&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kars &#8211; Mardin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the stupid speeding fine, I didn&#8217;t even want to continue through Turkey. Can we just skip into some kind of motorcycle-friendly country already? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, okay, gotta get going. Another &#8220;quick&#8221; ride. Just take a look at Ararat from the other side, just a fortress a two, and the lake. Mersin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when I thought that there was nothing more to surprise me, I took a deeeep fascinating dive into the history of civilization, which started right here in Mesopotamia when the Ice Age was coming to its end, somewhere around 12 thousand years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2070\" height=\"1454\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/map_turkey_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1461\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83e\udea8 Dara (6th century AD) &#8211; the ancient city built as a base for the Eastern Roman Empire in its war against Persia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udd4c Sanliufra (4th century BC) &#8211; the city of prophets, with its legendary Pool of Sacred Fish where Abraham was thrown into the fire by Nimrod<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83c\udfdb Gobekli Tepe (9.500 BC) &#8211;
