Now I wanted something similar but different \ud83d\ude02 So I thought why not go south of the main road this time? It looked like I had quite a few places marked as &#8220;want-to-visit&#8221; along the route. Let&#8217;s play the &#8220;connect-the-dots&#8221; game!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1680\" height=\"1204\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/map_georgia_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1403\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tbilisi &#8211; Akhaltsikhe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This part was easy, fun, full of breathtaking views, and quite a few attractions, of which I would definitely recommend visiting Vardzia, which is an impressive cave monastery. Well, to be honest, I arrived too late to actually do a guided tour but even looking at it from distance was totally worth the extra detour! Next time I&#8217;ll make sure to schedule a couple of hours for a proper visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1395\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3786.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1395\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1396\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3803.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1396\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3797\" height=\"2848\" data-id=\"1398\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3886-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1398\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1397\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3878.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1397\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Akhaltsikhe &#8211; Batumi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Akhaltsikhe to Batumi you can either take the highway via Kutaisi or a shortcut via Akhatsikhe. The only consern is that the shortcut although being much much shorter distance-wise, is very similar time-wise. Why would that be? Take a guess! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spoiler: Because 50 km are unpaved. And not just unpaved, there are roadworks, which means dust, trucks, and all that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"591\" height=\"437\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3145.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1465\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I saw it as a challenge, I just started getting into off-roading and I was really curious to do a longer off-road stretch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought I\u2019d rather be sweating and breathing dust for 2.5 hours riding a 50km gravel stretch and be very-very sore the next days from riding the whole time in the standing position than taking a long boring highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1399\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3921.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1399\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1400\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3922.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1400\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" data-id=\"1401\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3976.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1401\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3176\" height=\"2384\" data-id=\"1402\" src=\"https:\/\/alyoka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3977.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1402\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s a little preview of far-from-the-worst part:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p class=\"responsive-video-wrap clr\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"15. Oh yes, a lot! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did I regret taking the shortcut? Not for a second!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge, the views, all the emotions are a billion times worth the extra effort (and time)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I&#8217;m so proud I made it!
